Switched On Symphony

Switched on Symphony is Frankston Symphony Orchestra’s vibrant program for musicians of all ages across Frankston and the Mornington Peninsula.
Whether you’re new to an instrument or returning after a break, or a young musicians looking to develop through workshops, and side-by-side performances, we’d love to welcome you - come say hello!
SOS: In School
Since 2006, the Frankston Symphony Orchestra has proudly served our local community of schools, students, and educators.
We’re continually inspired by the fantastic feedback we receive about our one-hour schools concerts—just the right length to engage and inspire young audiences.
There’s a special kind of magic in seeing young people captivated by the sound of a live orchestra, many hearing it for the very first time. Often, it sparks a realisation: picking up an instrument can lead to an exhilarating and lifelong journey.
We’d love to explore how we can collaborate with your school—please get in touch for a chat!

SOS: Community Workshops
Members of the Frankston Symphony Orchestra enjoy valuable opportunities to enhance their musicianship through regular workshops led by esteemed Australian performers and educators. These sessions are designed to improve technical skills, foster ensemble awareness, and deepen musical interpretation, making the overall experience of playing more rewarding and enjoyable.
We hold several workshops throughout the year, and they are open to non-members for a small fee. They’re a fantastic way to meet our musical community, get a feel for how we rehearse, and decide if you’d like to join. If you’re interested, please contact us for upcoming workshop dates and details!
SOS: Side-by-Side
Since 1980, the Frankston Symphony Orchestra and Peninsula Youth Orchestra have joined forces for countless memorable concerts. Together, we’ve helped generations of passionate young musicians experience the thrill of playing in a full orchestra, and we continue to hear heartwarming stories about where their musical journeys have taken them.
Some have gone on to perform at the highest levels across Australia, while others have returned to the Peninsula and become valued members of the FSO community.
